Any member receiving a definite suspension issued by the Dallas Police Department of 30 days or less, may take advantage of the Family Assistance Bank and receive reimbursement of75% of the member's adjusted base salary. The member must submit a request for reimbursement within eight (8) working days from the date written notification of the suspension is received. A member receiving a definite suspension as a result of an incident arising out of the member's sworn police functions shall, if requested, receive legal assistance for an appeal as allowed by these guidelines in addition to the Family Assistance Bank. A member receiving a definite suspension as a result of an incident not arising out of the member's sworn police functions is entitled to select either reimbursement from the Family Assistance Bank or legal assistance for an appeal as allowed by these guidelines. In the case of a definite suspension as a result of an incident not arising out of the member's sworn police function, use of the Family Assistance Bank precludes payment of any further legal expenses by the DPA in the appeal of the definite suspension.
