Provide Payment for legal assistance

The DPA will provide payment for legal assistance to its membership through the law firm of Lyon, Gorsky, Haring & Gilbert LLP. If Lyon, Gorsky, Haring & Gilbert LLP, is unable to represent the member, the member may choose other counsel, however, the DPA will pay that counsel in accordance with its fee agreement with Lyon, Gorsky, Haring & Gilbert LLP

No legal fees or expenses will be paid by the DPA on behalf of a member to any other attorney or law firms without the prior approval of the President, Vice President for legal assistnce, or the Board of Directors.

The incident or incidents, which are made the basis of any legal matter, must have taken place while the member was a member of the DPA in good standing.

Additionally, in order to be eligible for assistance, the member must be in good standing at the time of the request for legal assistance and any obligation of the DPA to pay for legal assistance under these guidelines shall cease if, during the course of the investigation or legal action which is the basis for payment of legal costs, the member ceases to be a member in good standing for any reason, including but not limited to the member's failure to pay dues as required by the Constitution and By-laws of the DPA.
