Reimbursements to members

The DPA will reimburse a member for up to $5,000.00 of legal defense costs incurred in connection with criminal charges filed against a member which arise out of the member's on-duty activities. The reimbursement will happen only after all charges filed have been dismissed and jeopardy has attached as defined by the jurisdiction where the case (s) were filed. Cases where deferred adjudication is granted will not be eligible for reimbursement. Only one reimbursement for each incident, which results in prosecution, will be made. Before reimbursement is made, all requests will be reviewed for the reasonableness of the costs to be reimbursed and the DPA reserves the right to reject all or part of the reimbursement request if it deems the amount requested to be unreasonable.
